Jon Kay is best-known for hosting BBC Breakfast alongside Sally Nugent, but the presenter has been absent from TV screens over recent days. Jon, who hosts the BBC programme on from Monday until Wednesday every week, was replaced by Ben Thompson during both Monday and Tuesday's shows, during the week commencing 23 June.
The presenter eventually addressed his absence on social media, revealing he'd been enjoying some much-needed downtime in the West Country. "Long weekend back in the beautiful West Country," Jon shared on Instagram alongside a picturesque snap of himself strolling along a beach.
BBC Breakfast viewers flocked to comment on the photo, with many having been wondering why Jon had been off air over recent days.
"I wondered where you were this morning!" one person commented, while a second added: "That looks lovely. Missed you being with Sally this morning."
A third fan commented: "Hope you had a wonderful weekend to decompress," and a fourth wrote: "You deserve it....and the weather was glorious for you!!"
Another agreed, saying: "You deserved it," while somebody else added: "Looks beautiful."
It has not yet been confirmed when Jon will return to TV screens, with his absence not addressed on screen.
Jon and Sally front BBC Breakfast at the start of the week, before handing over to Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty, who front the show from Thursday until Saturday.
Sunday editions of BBC Breakfast are then presented by one or two of the regular stand-in presenters, which include Nina Warhurst, Roger Johnson, Ben Boulos, Sarah Campbell and others.
Sally and Jon started hosting BBC Breakfast together in 2022, when Jon became a regular host on the show.
Previously, Sally presented the show with Dan Walker after taking over from from regular presenter Louise Minchin, who had been on BBC Breakfast for two decades, in 2021.
BBC Breakfast airs from 6am every day on BBC One.
