The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has decided to increase the limit of auto claim settlement for advance claims from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. EPFO first introduced the auto-settlement facility during the Corona pandemic so that members could get immediate financial assistance. Later it was also implemented for advanced claims like illness, education, marriage, and house construction.

This process settles claims quickly and transparently without any human intervention. In this, the claim is settled within three days and the money is received.

Record 2.34 crore advance claims settled.
In the financial year 2024–25, EPFO settled a record 2.34 crore advance claims through auto-settlement, which is an increase of 161% compared to 89.52 lakh claims in the previous year (FY 2023–24). In 2023–24, 31% of advance claims were settled in auto mode. At the same time, this figure increased to 59% in 2024–25.

In the first 2.5 months of the financial year 2025–26, EPFO has settled 76.52 lakh claims through auto settlement, which is 70% of all advance claims so far.

This increase reflects EPFO's emphasis on automation and commitment to provide fast, effective services to members. These reforms have not only accelerated the claim process but have also reduced member grievances. This has also improved the ease of living for them.

EPFO has made many improvements in services

In recent times, EPFO has made several improvements to make its services faster, transparent, and user-friendly. The process of KYC or member detail correction has been simplified. Now the member does not have to depend on either the employer or the EPFO for profile correction.

Allotment and activation of UAN are being done through Face Authentication Technology (FAT) on the UMANG app.

To speed up claim settlement, there is no need to upload the image of the check leaf or attested bank passbook.

Approval of the employer or EPFO is no longer required for claim transfer.

Employer approval is also no longer required to add bank account to UAN.

Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS) has been introduced to simplify the pension distribution process.
