The pocket of the common man traveling in the train is going to have a direct impact. From 1 July 2025, the Indian railway is going to increase the price of tickets. Along with this, the rule of Tatkal ticket booking has also been changed. According to the new rule, now the Railways has made Aadhaar authentication mandatory.

How much increase in railway ticket price

  • Non-AC mail/express trains will now increase the fare by 1 paise per kilometer.
  • This increase in AC class (AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, etc.) will be 2 paise per kilometer.

Its price on the pockets of long distance people is going to be overshadowed. For example, if a passenger travels from Mumbai to Delhi (1400 km) by non-AC train, then he will have to pay Rs 14 more, while the increase in AC class will be Rs 28.

Why did railway increase fare

For the past several years, the Railways had not increased the fares. The fare was last increased in the year 2020. meanwhile-

  • Fuel prices increased,
  • The cost of maintenance and operations increased,
  • And the expenditure on modernity of trains increased.

For which there has been a slight increase in fares. It has been said by the Ministry of Railways that there has been a slight increase in fares so that the common people do not get much burden.

No increase on travel up to 500 km

  • There has been no increase on travel of up to 500 km in second class.
  • On a journey of more than 500 km, half a paisa per km will have to be paid in second class.
  • Local/city trains, suburban trains and general tickets will not affect it.
Changes in immediate booking rules

From 1 July 2025, the rules of immediate booking are also going to change.

  • From 1 July 2025, it will be necessary to have an Aadhaar card link to book Tatkal tickets.
  • From 15 July 2025, it will also be mandatory to do Aadhaar based OTP verification at the time of immediate booking.
  • AC Class Booking: From 10:00 am to 10:30 pm, agents will not be able to book Tatkal tickets.
