Kolkata, Kolkata: Kolkata’s Argentina Football Fan Club once again celebrated the 38th birthday of Football legend Lionel Messi, including passion and tradition, with a soulful performance of praise and loyalty. A large number of fans gathered on Tuesday in this festival, which has become an annual tradition for more than two decades.
This year’s celebration was held at the local club ground, decorated with sky blue and white flags – which are the colors of the Argentina’s national team. Messi’s prestigious number 10 jersey was displayed prominently, and the 5-by-3-Foot cake with Argentina flag was the main attraction of the event. “Messi! Messi!” The slogans were echoing, fans were singing birthday songs, waving flags and paying tribute to Bailon D’Or winner seven times.
Club organizer Uttam Saha said, “The beginning of some fans coming together in the early 2000s has turned into a huge community of devotees of Messi. Even though it may be miles away, but in our hearts, it is one of us. This festival is our way to show love and gratitude to the person who has given us so much happiness.” Quiz competitions and fans wearing Argentina Jersey were also included.
Despite being thousands of kilometers away from Rosario, this veteran of Argentina in Kolkata was alive and full of enthusiasm. Children, teenagers and even elderly fans also attended it, many of which showed their support by applying Messi masks and cakes on their face.
When the huge cake was finally cut between cheering and applause, a fan said the best: Argentina Hip-Hurray three cheers for the hip-hip. Who dreams of becoming a footballer, who sees Lionel Messi scoring 30 meters from outside, this is the dream of this organization.
