Ingredients required for Masala Oats Uttapam
  • Oats – 1 cup and grind it coarsely in a mixer
  • Semolina – half a cup
  • Curd – half a cup
  • Water – as required
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Eno fruit salt or baking soda – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion – 1 finely chopped
  • Tomato – 1 finely chopped
  • Green chilli – 1 finely chopped
  • Capsicum – half cup finely chopped
  • Green coriander - 2 tablespoons
  • Chat masala – as per taste
  • Oil - for frying
How to make Masala Oats Uttapam
  • Mix oats powder, semolina and curd in a bowl. Prepare a thick batter by adding water little by little. Keep it covered for 10–15 minutes so that the semolina and oats swell.
  • Meanwhile finely chop onion, tomato, capsicum and green chilly. If you want you can also add carrot or boiled corn.
  • Mix salt in the batter and then add Eno fruit salt. The batter will swell as soon as Eno is added, use it immediately.
  • Heat the pan, put some oil on it. Now pour the batter with a spoon and spread it in a round shape. Spread the chopped vegetables well on top and sprinkle some chaat masala.
  • Cover and cook on medium flame for 2-3 minutes, then turn and cook on the other side till both sides turn golden.
  • You can serve masala oats uttapam hot with coconut chutney, coriander chutney or tomato sauce. It is also a healthy option for children's tiffin, people following a diet or diabetic patients.
