In today’s modern cars, digital screens are everywhere, especially the central touchscreens and digital instrument clusters. Now, a new trend is catching on: triple-screen setups that include a separate display for the front passenger. This layout is becoming popular in car interiors, and by next year, at least two cars in India will feature it, the Tata Sierra and the upcoming Mahindra XUV700.

Making a comeback after over 20 years, the iconic Tata Sierra is all set to hit the roads again. Positioned between the Tata Nexon and Tata Harrier, the new Sierra will reportedly take on popular rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and the Renault Duster.

With its boxy design and elements inspired by the original Sierra, the SUV may stand out in the crowd, not just for its looks, but also its tech.

As per reports, recent spy shots have shown that the new Tata Sierra will have a feature none of its rivals offer yet: a triple-screen dashboard. This includes a fully digital display for the driver, a large touchscreen in the center, and another separate screen for the front passenger, all placed neatly across the dashboard.

The Tata Sierra’s second touchscreen, meant for the front passenger, will likely let them help the driver with tasks like handling navigation or choosing music. It may also allow the passenger to stream videos, watch TV shows, or enjoy movies during the ride. A special screen coating is expected to prevent it from distracting the driver.

Tata Motors has announced that the new Sierra will launch sometime between October this year and March next year. While an exact date hasn’t been confirmed, many expect it to arrive by the end of 2025. The SUV will be offered in both petrol/diesel (ICE) and electric versions and will compete with the Hyundai Creta.

Meanwhile, Mahindra introduced the triple-screen setup with the XUV.e9 earlier this year in March. Recent spy images reportedly suggest that this design could be added to the XUV700 facelift coming next year. It may include three 12.3-inch screens for the driver display, central touchscreen, and a third one for the passenger. This passenger screen might support features like video calls, gaming, video streaming, and helping with navigation. The new XUV700 is expected to launch in 2026.
