Tata Motors’ newly-launched Harrier EV has secured a 5-star safety rating in crash tests conducted by Bharat ncapmaking it the fourth EV from the company to achieve a perfect 5-star rating. The electric SUV scored 32 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child occupant protection.Bharat NCAP tested two variants of the SUV – Empowered 75 and Empowered 75 AWD. Both versions come equipped with a strong set of safety features including front, side chest and curtain airbags, electronic stability control, seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters, and reminders for all seats. The 5-star rating covers both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants of the model, equipped with both the 75 kWh and 65 kWh battery options.

 

In the crash tests, the Harrier EV performed well across the board. It secured full marks in the frontal offset deformable barrier and the side movable barrier tests, offering strong protection for key areas like the head, chest, and pelvis. In the side pole impact test, protection levels were rated as acceptable.The SUV also stood out in child safety assessments. It achieved a perfect 24 out of 24 in dynamic testing for child restraint systems (CRS) and 12 out of 12 for CRS installation. It also received 9 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment score. Tests were conducted using dummies simulating 18-month-old and 3-year-old children.The Harrier EV, which starts at Rs 21.49 lakh, ex-showroom, comes loaded with several advanced safety features, including Level 2 ADAShill hold assist, hill descent control, AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System), and disc brakes at all four wheels.
