Delhi Weather Update: As the monsoon season approaches, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for rainfall and thunderstorms on Wednesday. The Southwest monsoon has progressed over the remaining areas of the north Arabian Sea, parts of West Uttar Pradesh, sections of Haryana, Chandigarh, and the rest of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and additional areas of Punjab. The IMD reports that conditions are favorable for the southwest monsoon to advance into more regions of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and the remaining parts of West Uttar Pradesh within the next 36 hours.
Pre-monsoon conditions have begun to manifest in the capital, characterized by a significant drop in maximum temperatures, sudden thunderstorms, light to moderate rainfall, and elevated humidity levels. Light showers were recorded on Tuesday, June 24.
The IMD's forecast for Wednesday, June 25, suggests a pleasant day for residents, providing relief from the intense heat. Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are anticipated today. The sky is expected to be overcast, with maximum temperatures reaching around 36°C. Gusty winds, with speeds of 30-40 km/h, may temporarily increase to 50 km/h during thunderstorms. Additionally, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for rain and thunderstorms. While the day is expected to be enjoyable, rising humidity levels could lead to discomfort.
