Leopard Encounter in Baburi Village

In a remarkable display of courage, a young man was attacked by a leopard hidden in a brick kiln near Baburi village in Lakhimpur Kheri district. During the encounter, the man managed to grapple with the leopard, even seizing it by the neck.

A video capturing this intense moment has gone viral on social media, showing Mihilal, a resident of Baburi village, bravely confronting the leopard.

In the footage, Mihilal is seen holding the leopard's neck tightly while local villagers throw bricks in an attempt to rescue him. The leopard was also injured due to the bricks thrown by the villagers.

According to police reports, Mihilal (35) had gone to the brick kiln to retrieve a key when the approximately four-year-old leopard suddenly attacked him, trying to drag him into a nearby banana grove. However, Mihilal displayed remarkable bravery by grabbing the leopard's neck and bringing it down to the ground.

Despite the leopard's attempts to escape from his grip, it was unsuccessful. Authorities stated that upon receiving the alert, police and forest department personnel arrived at the scene. Local villagers rushed to help, attacking the leopard with bricks.

The enraged leopard injured several villagers, a forest guard, and a police officer during the chaos. Eventually, police and forest officials managed to rescue both the young man and the leopard.

Saurish Sahay, the deputy director of the Dudhwa buffer zone, informed that villagers reported the incident to the forest department, prompting a rescue team to tranquilize the leopard and transport it to the Daurahra range headquarters.

The injured individuals were admitted to the district hospital, where their conditions are reported to be stable. Sahay noted that the leopard was also wounded during the villagers' attack, and its condition will be assessed once it regains consciousness.

In a related incident, a sick leopard was captured by the forest department team in Jatpurwa village, just hours before the Baburi incident. Passersby had alerted the forest department after spotting the ailing leopard.

The rescue team promptly arrived and transported the leopard to the range headquarters. Dudhwa veterinarians are currently examining both leopards for further action.
