Real Madrid have reportedly set an asking price of €90million (£76.8m) for Arsenal target Rodrygo. The Gunners want to sign an elite left winger this summer and Rodrygo has become their top target, with Nico Williams expected to join Barcelona instead.

Arsenal defender Gabriel has also spoken out about the rumours, branding Rodrygo a "phenomenon" and admitting he wants the winger to join him at the Emirates. "I'd like [it] obviously," Gabriel told Brazilian podcast PodPah when asked about Rodrygo.

"He's a phenomenon. I've told people already, he's a phenomenon. If it was up to me, of course [I want him at Arsenal]!"

And according to Spanish outlet Cadena SER, there is a 'real possibility' that Rodrygo will join Arsenal. The Brazil international does have three years remaining on his contract, which puts Real Madrid in a strong position and it is claimed they will demand around €90m (£76.m) as a result.

The report adds that Arsenal are not the only club interested in Rodrygo, with Manchester City 'always there' while Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur considered making a move last summer.

Rodrygo is currently in action with Real Madrid at the Club World Cup and his future has been a repeated topic of discussion for new manager Xabi Alonso. "He's a Madrid player and I will have a conversation with everyone because we need to do so," Alonso said last month.

"We'll get to know each other. He's a spectacular player and we need him." When quizzed about Rodrygo after Real Madrid's Club World Cup opener against Al-Hilal, Alonso added: "I can tell you to a point.

"I know what happened, that the end of the season was not easy for him. He took some time that was good for him, to reset his head. We talked from day one and I see him looking forward to enjoying himself with his quality."

In order to finance their business, Arsenal are looking to offload some of their players with Kieran Tierney and Jorginho leaving on free transfers and Nuno Tavares and Marquinhos joining Lazio and Cruzeiro respectively.

Fringe players Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior could also be on the move this summer, while Arsenal may also look to cash in on Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard. Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for Martinelli, while Trossard is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League.
