Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) recently soft-launched its new Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service from Ameerpet Exchange, Hyderabad. The event was led by CMD A. Robert J. Ravi and was attended by senior officials from BSNL, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), and industry. Now the company has also introduced BSNL 5G plans. BSNL will start pilot projects in 6 cities Bengaluru, Pondicherry, Visakhapatnam, Pune, Gwalior, and Chandigarh by September 2025. Let us know...

What makes Quantum 5G FWA special?

SIM-less design: Through BSNL's Direct-to-Device technology, this service provides auto-authentication without physical SIM. This is India's first production-level SIM-less 5G service.

Fully indigenous technology: BSNL's entire network stack from core to RAN and CPE has been developed in India under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' mission.

Fast speed: During testing in Ameerpet, the download speed of 980 Mbps and upload speed of 140 Mbps were recorded, that too with less than 10 milliseconds of latency. It is ideal for 4K streaming, cloud gaming and remote work.

Fast and easy installation: Installation is possible without laying fiber through a plug-and-play gateway. The service can be extended to 85% of Hyderabad's homes through BSNL's existing tower network.

BSNL 5G starting tariffs

100 Mbps for Rs 999

300 Mbps for Rs 1,499

The company has not yet given details about the calling and data plans available with these two plans. BSNL's 5G standalone core network will provide SLA-supported, network-sliced connectivity for MSMEs and smart industrial clusters. This indigenous 5G FWA initiative will help in promoting digital connectivity in rural and remote areas.
