Faridabad (Haryana), June 25: In a tragic incident, a man died after falling from a skywalk in a housing society in Haryana's Faridabad. There are reports that the elderly man who lost his life in the incident was a retired bank manager and the incident occurred when he was going to water the plants early in the morning. The man fell from the skywalk located on the 14th floor of the building. Kulwant Singh who retired from State Bank of India (SBI) lived in flat number 1407 in T-Eight Tower of Savana Society, Sector-86.

The deceased has been identified as Kulwant Singh who lost his life on Tuesday (June 24) morning in T-8 tower of the society in Faridabad. As per reports, Kulwant used to water the plants everyday in the morning. On Tuesday around 8 AM when he went to water the plants and was walking from the T-8 tower towards the T-7 tower, a slab of the skywalk suddenly broke and he fell down. Kulwant reportedly died on the spot after falling from the 14th floor height.

There are reports that the slabs of the skywalk was broke and only the railings were left. The sharp metal caused serious cuts and injuries to his neck, arms and legs. A security guard reportedly informed his son about the accident.

The people residing in the society were scared after witnessing the horrific incident. The police were later informed about the accident, after which they arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter. Kulwant's dead body was sent to the Badshah Khan Hospital mortuary.

There are reports that the family has not filed a police complaint in connection with the matter. The police said that they will take action into the matter after an official complaint is filed.

Rules for building skywalks as per the National Building Code and the Haryana Building Code:

1. Skywalks should be built at least 24 meters high.

2. There should be 6-foot-high railings on both sides to stop people from falling.

3. For safety, a metal net or grill should be installed under the skywalk, wider than the skywalk itself. This net can catch anyone who falls and save their life.
