In a tragic occurrence near Trimuhani Ghat in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh, a father reportedly jumped into the river with his disabled son on Wednesday. According to a police official, the son drowned, while the father's condition remains critical.
The police reported that Arvind Goswami, aged 35, from Kalwari village in the Katra Bazaar area, arrived at Trimuhani Ghat with his 13-year-old son, Navneet, on a motorcycle. After parking the bike, both allegedly leaped into the Saryu River.
Upon receiving information about the incident, local police and divers rushed to the scene to rescue them. Unfortunately, Navneet was pronounced dead at the scene, while Arvind was found in serious condition and has been admitted to the community health center in Parsapur.
Sharadendu Kumar Pandey, the station chief of Parsapur, mentioned that Navneet was disabled and undergoing treatment at PGI in Lucknow. It is suspected that financial strain and mental stress related to the treatment costs may have driven Arvind to take this drastic step.
According to the station chief, initial investigations suggest that the case appears to be a suicide. The body of the deceased has been sent for an autopsy, and further inquiries are underway.
