Manchester United are struggling to sell Tyrell Malacia this summer as they attempt to offload a number of a stars to boost their funds. The Dutch defender is among a number of players who spent time out on loan last term andhave yet to secure a permanent exit.

Malacia joins Antony, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in being yet to secure an exit from Old Trafford. The full-back spent the second half of 2024/25 on loan at PSV Eindhoven.

The 25-year-old was the first player to arrive at the club under Erik ten Hag in 2022. After making 39 appearances in his first season with United, Malacia failed to make a single outing in an injury-hit second year and made three Premier League showings before making the move to PSV last term.

Despite making eight appearances as the Dutch side overcame as 12-point gap to win the Eredivisie ahead of Ajax, Malacia is struggling to generate suitors, per the Athletic. There is said to be no firm interest in the player.

United's ability to raise funds is likely to dictate the business the club can conduct to strengthen Ruben Amorim's squad. Malacia would appear to have little room to break into the Red Devils' side after they signed Patrick Dorgu in Janaury.

After joining PSV in January,Malacia appeared to take a dig at Amorim amid United's struggles. The defender noted his happiness to play 'good football again'.

"I'm happy to be here," he said. "Finally playing good football again."

"I am coming off a long injury, but by now I am fit and know that my time will come again.

"In every tough period there are also positive elements and in this case that is that I have become much stronger physically and mentally. I have more patience, am more mature, know my body better and things like that. I'm ready to pop and hopefully win several prizes with PSV."

Malacia was close to a move to Benfica earlier this year before the deal collapsed. Despite the move looking set to happen, the clubs were unable to come to an agreement over a loan fee and future option to buy.

Dutch outlet Voetbal Verslaafd also claimed that Wolves were interested in the 25-year-old earlier in the year. But Malacia ultimately chose to make the trip to the Netherlands.
