England took a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series after defeating India by five wickets in the opening Test at Leeds.

Chasing a challenging target of 371 runs, England displayed an aggressive approach and successfully reached 373/5, thanks to a brilliant century from Ben Duckett and solid support from Joe Root and Zak Crawley.

Despite centuries from Rishabh Pant in both innings, India failed to defend the total on the final day. The loss marked a disappointing start for India in the new World Test Championship cycle. England’s fearless “Bazball” style once again proved effective in home conditions.
