The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 534 artists and executives to join its membership this year. This new group has broadened to include not just actors and directors, but also cinematographers, costume designers, and visual effects artists who have made significant contributions to motion pictures. Notable names such as Ariana Grande, Mikey Madison, Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza, Margaret Qualley, Sebastian Stan, Naomi Ackie, Gillian Anderson, Dave Bautista, Danielle Deadwyler, Stephen Graham, Rachel Brosnahan, Jodie Comer, Kieran Culkin, and Jeremy Strong are among the actors who have received invitations.
Academy invites 534 new class of artists
The list features several Oscar winners and nominees who have made exceptional contributions to the art and science of filmmaking. The invitees showcase a diverse range of talent, perspectives, and geographic backgrounds.
According to Variety, Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang stated, "We are thrilled to invite this esteemed class of artists, technologists, and professionals to join the Academy. Through their commitment to filmmaking and to the greater movie industry, these exceptionally talented individuals have made indelible contributions to our global filmmaking community."
About the invitees and Academy's expanding international profile
If all the artists accept the Academy's invitation, its total membership will increase to 11,120, which includes 10,143 voting members, and spans over 60 countries and territories outside the United States, thereby enhancing the Academy's international profile. The invited artists will be joining one of its 19 branches, or as Associates.

For this year's list, 91 Oscar nominees, 26 winners, and three Scientific and Technical Award honorees have been invited. Recent Oscar winners Kieran Culkin and Mikey Madison, along with nominees Ariana Grande, Fernanda Torres, Sebastian Stan, and Jeremy Strong, are included. Twelve artists were invited to join multiple branches.
However, Karla Sofía Gascón was not invited despite making history as the first trans actor nominated for her Spanish musical Emilia Pérez. She faced criticism for a series of controversial posts on her X account.
