Jagannath rath yatra 2025: A chariot situation occurred during the grand Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath on Friday in Puri, Odisha. Due to the crowd, there was a stampede near the Shri Canal (Raja’s palace), in which more than 40 devotees were injured. Many devotees fell unconscious and fell on the ground. He was immediately admitted to Puri Medical College, where he is undergoing treatment. At present, there is no news of anyone’s life.
According to reports, the stampede took place when the ‘hill’ ritual was going on near the palace of Gajapati Maharaj Divy Singhdev. During this time a large number of people gathered. The crowd became difficult to control and suddenly there was chaos. People started running here and there, causing many devotees to fall into push and injured.
Soon after the incident, the police and administration took the front and controlled the crowd. The injured were sent to the hospital by ambulance. At present, the condition of all the injured is stable and treatment is underway.
Significantly, in the year 2024, there was a similar stampede during the Rath Yatra, in which a devotee died. The administration had made strict security arrangements this time, but the huge crowd still became the cause of the accident.
The chariot journey had to be stopped in the middle due to the crowd and the people feeling suffocated. Sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik also confirmed this. Now the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra will be pulled forward on Saturday.
However, despite the accident, millions of devotees continued to see Lord Jagannath till evening. The administration has appealed that people maintain restraint and patience and follow the safety rules.
