Abhishek Bachchan is returning to a serious performance-driven role again after Shoojit Sircar’s I Want to Talk. In a new announcement, the actor, last seen in HOUSEFull 5 (currently running in theatres), revealed his involvement as lead actor in filmmaker Madhumita’s Kaalidhar laapatawhich will have its premiere on Zee5 on July 4.

Sharing the first look on his Instagram handle, Abhishek wrote: “Sometimes, getting lost isn’t a detour, it’s where the real story begins.Full of dreams, twists, and the people who make it worth it. #KaalidharLaapata premieres 4th July, only on #ZEE5.”

Madhumita is known for films such as the Tamil Nadu State Film Award winner Vallamai tharayo, K.D.and the segment ‘mouname paarvayaai’ from the anthology Putham pudhu kaalai vidiyaadhaa.

Also starring Zeeshan Ayyub and Daivik Bhagela, the film’s official logline reveals a road trip story set against the backdrop of rural India. “The movie revolves around an aging man named Kaalidhar (Bachchan), who decides to elope after learning about his family’s plan to abandon him. Things take an unexpected turn as he meets Ballu, a spirited eight-year-old orphan. Ballu’s zeal and curiosity towards life end up reigniting Kaalidhar’s will to live life to the fullest,” reads the logline of the film which comes from Zee Studios and Emmay Entertainment.
