Aamir Khan has proved once again why he’s called Mr Perfectionist. His new film ‘ Sitaare Zameen Par ’ has worked wonders at the box office. The film has collected over Rs 94 crore in eight days.

Aamir’s bold move pays off?

Aamir took a big risk by releasing ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ only in cinemas, with no OTT plan. This gamble seems to have paid off. The film opened well and kept pulling people to theatres all week.

Strong numbers in the first week

According to Sacnilk, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ collected Rs 94.95 crore in its first week. Here’s how it did each day:
  • Friday: Rs 10.7 crore
  • Saturday: Rs 20.2 crore
  • Sunday: Rs 27.25 crore
  • Monday: Rs 8.5 crore
  • Tuesday: Rs 8.5 crore
  • Wednesday: Rs 7.25 crore
  • Thursday: Rs 6.5 crore
In its first seven days, it made Rs 88.9 crore. On the next Friday (day 8), it added another Rs 6.75 crore, as per early estimates by Sacnilk, taking the total to Rs 94.65 crore.
Leaves ‘ Kesari Chapter 2 ’ behind

This is a big win for Aamir. His film has surpassed Akshay Kumar ’s ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, which had a lifetime India total of Rs 92.53 crore.
Now faces new films at the box office

But it’s not all smooth sailing. The film is now up against new releases. Kajol’s horror film ‘Maa’, Vishnu Manchu’s ‘Kannappa’, and Brad Pitt’s ‘ F1 : The Movie’ have also hit cinemas. Because of this, the film’s numbers can be see a drop. Still, the film is expected to cross Rs 100 crore by the end of its second weekend.

What is the film about?

It introduces ten fresh faces on screen, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
