Though India and England are facing each other for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in a five-match Test series, former Indian Test captain and current ODI captain Rohit Sharma seems to be having some time off the game.
Rohit Sharma, who had announced his retirement from Test cricket a short while ahead of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, was spotted by his fans in the city of Milan. Rohit even went on to his social media account and shared photos o his vacation.
As of now, Rohit Sharma is 38 years old, and will be only engaging in one international format: One-Day International cricket. As a result, with Indian Test side being engaged in a series against England and no ODI commitments as of now, the Mumbaikar has some free time to spend for himself and his family.
Rohit Sharma is set to play for India in August as India will visit Bangladesh for a series of three One-Day International matches. The first ODI of this series is going to be held on August 17.
As of the Indian team, they are currently versing England for a five-match Test series- pf which the first match is finished with the hosts winning the match and gaining a 1-0 lead over the visitors.
With Rohit Sharma retired from the longest format of the game, Shubman Gill was named the Test captain of India. Gill’s first red-ball match ended on a disappointing note as England secured a dominant five-wicket win over India.
Even Though opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, top-order Batter KL Rahul and skipper Shubman Gill scored centuries each, along with the vice-captain and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant scoring a double-century, the Indian team could not manage to grab an early lead and are 1 down in the series.
The second match of the series is going to begin from 2nd June, and is going to be held in Edgbaston (Birmingham).
