Gavaskar made a special appeal to the fans.

In the video released on social media, the Indian legend has appealed to be cautious of false news and fake statements issued in his name.
'Check the facts'
Gavaskar said, 'In the last few months it has come to my notice that many sports websites and personal accounts are giving comments and quotes in my name which I have never given. I request everyone to check the veracity, check the facts, and do not believe whatever they write, especially the things coming from these personal accounts and sports websites.'
