Actress and model Shefali Jariwala passed away on Friday, June 27, in Mumbai.

The actress who’s best remembered for ‘Kaanta Laga’ was 42 years of age.

According to sources, the Mumbai police stated that the official cause of death is not yet confirmed and that her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem.

She was brought to the hospital by her husband, Parag Tyagi.

According to reports, Shefali’s husband, Parag, was the one who brought her to the Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival by the on-duty doctor.

Shefali and Parag had been married for a decade. Their wedding took place in 2014, just one year before they partnered for the second time in Nach Baliye season 7.

The actress became an overnight sensation with ‘Kaanta Laga.’

Shefali Jariwala was just 20 years old when she starred in the music video for ‘Kaanta Laga,’ a remix of Lata Mangeshkar’s 1972 hit.

It took over every radio station and TV channel and, to date, is a superhit song in clubs, discos, and parties.

Shefali Starred In Hit Reality Shows Like Nach Baliye.

Shefali was known for her lovely personality, glamorous looks, and fabulous dance moves—winning our hearts over and over again, even after her breakout.

This is evident from her appearances in reality shows like Boogie Woogie in 2008, as well as Nach Baliye seasons 5 and 7—where she met and paired with co-contestant Parag Tyagi, whom she would go on to marry in 2015.

Her Friendship With Sidharth Shukla

She was also a contestant in Bigg Boss 13 in the year 2019, where she developed a good friendship with fellow contestant Sidharth Shukla.

Sidharth passed away due to cardiac arrest in 2021 at the age of 40. And according to some reports, though unconfirmed, cardiac arrest might be the reason for Shefali’s demise as well.

Her last tweet, from September 2, 2024, was about how she misses him.

She even made an appearance in ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’!

Shefali is no stranger to acting, as her biggest role in Bollywood, which many people might have missed, was when she even debuted in the 2004 blockbuster ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ and shared the screen in an iconic scene with Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan.

The only other film she starred in was a 2011 Kannada film titled Hudugaru, in which she performed in the hit song ‘Pankaja.’

Her most recent work was in a web series called ‘Shaitani Rasmein.’

Shefali’s last acting role was as ‘Kapalika’ in Shaitani Rasmein, a romantic horror series that originally aired on Star Bharat and is available on JioHotstar.

Previously, she starred opposite Shreyas Talpade and alongside Manasi Scott and Kiku Sharda in Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Baby Come Naa’ as ‘Sarah.’
