If you're jetting off to Benidorm this summer, heed the advice of one Brit who's become a local expert. Harry, known as @harrytokky on TikTok, has issued a "warning" to fellow holidaymakers about the risk of alleged "fake taxis" in the area.

He cautions that these bogus cabs could be just "random strangers' cars," which won't always deliver you to your intended destination. In his TikTok clip, Harry pledges to inform viewers about which taxis are trustworthy and which should be avoided to ensure safety in the bustling party town.

He asserts that "in Benidorm there's only one type of taxi that you should be getting into," describing them as "white cars with a blue stripe down the middle".

Harry points out that these legitimate taxis typically "have a light on the top of the roof," which will display either green or red. "If they're red, the taxi is in use," he explains but, if the light is green, the taxi is available for hire.

He reassures that these are the taxis that will "take you to your destination nice and safe," unlike the "fake taxis" he warns against. Harry advises: "So guys, if you're coming out to Benidorm, they are the only taxis that you should be looking out for because you don't want to get into some random stranger's car", as it may lead you somewhere you do not want to be.

The conversation extends to the comments section, where someone queries: "What about Uber? The last time I was there, I used Uber from Benidorm old town to the airport; it was a regular black car."

Some travellers have reported success in using Uber during their stay, while others have encountered difficulties, with a few saying they "struggled" and "couldn't get the app to work" while they were there.

A seasoned Benidorm visitor suggested trying out "the Pide app," praising its simplicity. Harry concurred: "I totally agree with you. I should've mentioned that".

Another individual recounted their positive experience with the Pide app throughout their time in Benidorm, describing it as providing "fantastic service".

For those preferring traditional methods, Radio Taxi Benidorm offers reliable and official taxi services and can be reached by phone within the locality.

In the online discussion, one man advised looking for taxis with a "blue stripe" to ensure authenticity. Bear in mind that, during peak season, hailing a cab from taxi ranks might prove more difficult due to high demand.

For added security, some suggest having your hotel arrange a taxi pickup or requesting a restaurant to call one on your behalf, thus avoiding the need to search the streets.

Before choosing a taxi service, it's wise to check their Google ratings, but thorough online research is always recommended for the best experience.
