Shefali Jariwala’s sudden demise on Friday night has left the entertainment industry stunned. Her ex-husband, singer Harmeet Singh of the Meet Bros duo, has reacted to Shefali's death.
In a brief statement to journalist Vicky Lalwani, Harmeet said, “The fact that Shefali (Jariwala) is no more is shattering. I am in Europe.” The two were married from 2005 to 2009 and eventually went their separate ways. Despite their turbulent past, Harmeet revealed that they had shared moments of warmth in recent years.
Recalling a chance reunion, he shared, “I remember having gone to Bangladesh for a show, about two-three years ago. Sunny Leone and Shefali were also there. We three came back together in a private plane, and Shefali and I sat next to each other. And yes, there was quite a long conversation that we had. Apart from that, I did meet her at a few events and parties where I remember we both wishing each other warmly.”
Shefali, best known for her breakout appearance in the early 2000s hit remix 'Kaanta Laga', was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Andheri by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, late Friday night. She was declared dead on arrival at 11:15 pm.
Mumbai Police later confirmed that an autopsy was conducted at Cooper Hospital, but the cause of death has been withheld for now. A police official told PTI, “The autopsy has been done, but the opinion on the cause of death has been reserved.” He added that based on initial findings, it appears to be a natural death and there were no signs of foul play.
The actor’s final rites were held on Saturday evening at Mumbai’s Oshiwara crematorium, where her parents, Parag Tyagi, and close friends bid her a tearful goodbye.
Shefali had found renewed popularity in recent years through her appearances in dance reality show 'Nach Baliye' alongside Parag and later as a contestant on 'Bigg Boss 13'.
