Shefali Jariwala, best remembered as the ‘Kaanta Laga Girl’ has tragically p@ssed aw@y at the age of 42. Her sudden d*ath, confirmed by Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai where she was rushed after suffering a cardiac arrest on the night of June 27, has left the entertainment world in deep shock.

Her husband and actor Parag Tyagi, accompanied by three others, brought her to the hospital but doctors declared her d*ad on arrival. The heartbreaking news got spread quickly across the film and television fraternity, where grief and disbelief have poured in from colleagues and fans alike.

Shefali rose to prominence in 2002 with her bold and energetic performance in the remix music video Kaanta Laga. The video, with its catchy beats and her vibrant screen presence, turned her into a national sensation almost overnight. Her dance moves and unique style resonated especially with the younger generation, making her one of the most recognisable faces in Indian pop culture at the time.

Following her explosive debut in the music world, Shefali transitioned to Bollywood with a cameo in the 2004 romantic comedy Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, directed by David Dhawan. Though her role was brief, she appeared in a dance number with Akshay Kumar and shared a scene with Salman Khan, placing her on the radar of mainstream cinema.

This marked her formal entry into Bollywood beyond music videos. She also appeared in the 2011 Kannada film Hudugaru, directed by K. Madesh and featuring stars like Puneeth Rajkumar, Srinagar Kitty, Yogesh and Radhika Pandit, further expanding her cinematic footprint.

Apart from her film appearances, Shefali became a familiar face on Indian television, thanks to her participation in popular reality shows. She showcased her dancing prowess in Boogie Woogie hosted by Jaaved Jaaferi and later impressed audiences in Nach Baliye where she participated with her husband Parag Tyagi.

However, it was her stint on Bigg Boss 13 that truly brought her back into the spotlight. Her presence on the show stirred interest, particularly due to her close bond with fellow contestant and late actor Sidharth Shukla. Their friendship and past connection added depth to the show and their camaraderie remained one of the most memorable elements of that season.

Most recently, Shefali appeared in the Star Bharat series Shaitani Rasmein which premiered on January 15, 2024. Starring alongside Naqiyah Haji and Vibhav Roy, she continued to explore new roles, showing her versatility even in the later stages of her career.

Shefali had been married to television actor Parag Tyagi since August 2014. Together, the couple often shared glimpses of their life, both on-screen and off-screen, earning admiration for their chemistry and mutual support.

Her sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of fans and peers alike. Known for her charm, elegance and unapologetic individuality, Shefali Jariwala will be remembered not only for her iconic debut but also for a career defined by grace and quiet strength.
