A mild earthquake occurred on Friday night in Mahendragarh district of Haryana, which surprised the local people. Its intensity on the Richter scale was measured 3.8, and its center was at a depth of just 5 kilometers from Mahendragarh. In the silence of the night, people were afraid of suddenly moving the earth and came out of their homes. Although there is no news of any loss of life and property from this earthquake, this incident has once again outlined the need for awareness about natural disasters.
According to the National Earthquake Science Center (NCS), the epicenter of the earthquake was near Mahendragarh, and its effect was also felt in some surrounding areas. Local residents said that at around 9:30 pm, the floors and walls suddenly started shaking. Some people were sleeping, while some were busy with their daily tasks. “I was watching TV with my children, when the chair started moving. At first I did not understand, but then we immediately ran out,” Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Mahendragarh, told. Such incidents, even if small, create fear in people and reflect the importance of disaster management preparations.
