Puri, 30 June. Puri rath yatra stampede: Lord Jagannath’s famous Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha became a witness to a tragic accident this time. During this holy journey in the presence of millions of devotees sunday A horrific stampede occurred at around 4:30 am, in which 3 people died on the spot and around 50 people were injured. The incident took place in front of the Srigundicha temple, where Lord Jagannath was seated on the chariot and the devotees gathered to visit.
How did the accident happen?
During the Rath Yatra, devotees gathered outside the temple to see God. The crowd grew, and the system began to respond. The crowd started pushing, some devotees fell down, causing a sudden stampede. The accident occurred in the Sharadhabali region (Puri Rath Yatra Stampede), which is considered to be a very sensitive place for the Rath Yatra.
Identification of dead and status of injured
Puri District Collector Siddharth S Swain confirmed the accident and told that the dead have been identified:

Premkant Mohanty (Balipna)
Pravati Das
