K-pop group BABYMONSTER recently had to deal with a major on-stage malfunction that could’ve turned problematic if it hadn’t been dealt with properly. After videos from the concert went viral online, fans and netizens raised concerns about the artist’s safety and over upcoming performances of the group.
BABYMONSTER almost fell off the stage
On June 28, during their concert for their ongoing tour ‘Hello Monsters World Tour’, BABYMONSTER could be seen ending one of their performances while standing on a descending stage lift in Taipei. While the members were maintaining their pose and waiting for the life to descend, it suddenly started tilting to one side, making all of the members fall.
Although the incident could’ve turned into something major, the members of the girl group were quick to act and shifted to one side in order not to fall. Videos of the incident showed the idols getting off the half-descended stage with the help of crew members.
As soon as the videos of the idols were shared online, fans and netizens took to online social media platforms to share their concerns about the group’s safety, and how the future performances are going to go for the girl group.
According to Naver, the group’s company issued a prompt statement about the matter. The brief notice regarding the malfunction read, “There was a malfunction in the lift, but we took immediate action on site. There were no particular injuries.”
Fans react to the video
Fans of BABYMONSTER took to their online accounts to share their opinions about the incident, citing concerns about the group’s safety and well-being. While resharing the video online, one fan commented, “This was the moment when the stage lift collapsed! I hope this never happens again!! This should be a reminder for YG and promoters, double check, double check, double check before the concert starts!!!”
Many netizens called the idol group’s company out and shared how the situation should not have happened if the venue had been checked properly. One fan also commented, “What happened? Please provide facilities that are guaranteed to be safe for security purposes so that things like this don't happen”.
