Rayagada: The Indian Railways is embarking on a major redevelopment project for several railway stations in Odisha as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). Muniguda Railway Station is set to receive a comprehensive upgrade aimed at enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and passenger comfort to meet international standards.
The redevelopment initiative at Muniguda is projected to cost approximately Rs 20.16 crore. Key enhancements will include a revamped station façade, a new expansive foot overbridge, and the elevation and resurfacing of platforms equipped with modern shelters. Additionally, coach indication boards and improved signage will be installed.
The project also focuses on accessibility, featuring facilities for differently-abled individuals, modern restrooms with lift access, and a sewage treatment plant complete with an overhead tank and pipeline connections.
Incorporating eco-friendly solutions, the redevelopment will utilize solar energy systems, implement water conservation strategies, and adopt sustainable waste management practices. Redesigned circulation areas will provide better drop-off and pick-up zones, improved access roads, and enhanced parking facilities to facilitate urban integration.
With a focus on passenger experience, the project will introduce high-speed Wi-Fi, digital information displays, upgraded sanitation facilities, better food and beverage options, and advanced security systems.
