Now the reservation list of the train i.e. the chart will be released 8 hours before the train opens, not 4 hours. Not only this, but one more rule has changed from July 1, no user can book a ticket from the IRCTC app without verifying with an Aadhaar. Rules for chart preparation

– Now the chart will be prepared 8 hours before, not 4 hours. This change will bring great relief, especially to the waiting list passengers. – Now the reservation chart will be prepared 8 hours before the departure of the train. For example, if a train departs before 2 pm, then its chart will be prepared at 9 pm the day before. This system is being brought in to give more preparation time to the passengers and reduce uncertainty.

– Currently, the reservation chart is prepared four hours before the departure of the train. This creates uncertainty in the minds of the passengers for the journey. To remove this uncertainty, the Railway Board has proposed to prepare the reservation chart eight hours before departure.

Ticket booking rules also changed.

- From July 1, only authenticated users will be able to book Tatkal tickets on the IRCTC website and app. That is, now no one will be able to book tickets from a fake account.

– Apart from this, the facility of OTP-based authentication will also start from the end of July, under which the user will have to verify with an Aadhaar or any other government identity card. This is also expected to curb ticket brokerage.

What did the Railway Minister say?

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav himself has reviewed these reforms. He said that the Railways aim to make the ticketing system smart, transparent, and passenger-centric. He said that at present, due to the preparation of the chart four hours in advance, there is uncertainty among the passengers, especially the passengers on the waiting list. By preparing the chart eight hours in advance, this uncertainty will be reduced and passengers will get a chance to plan better. Meanwhile, the Railways has appealed to the passengers to follow the new rules and understand the process of instant booking with DigiLocker or valid ID.
