Establishment of the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority
The Maharashtra government introduced a bill on Monday aimed at establishing the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority in preparation for the grand Kumbh Mela set to commence on October 31 next year. This new legislation outlines the creation of an authority responsible for organizing and managing the Kumbh Mela and related activities in Nashik, Trimbakeshwar, and surrounding areas. It is noteworthy that this authority was sanctioned through an ordinance approved by the Devendra Fadnavis cabinet on June 4 of this year.
Key Details About the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority
According to the bill, the 22-member authority will be led by the Nashik division commissioner, with the Nashik collector and the Inspector General of Police for the Nashik range serving as vice-chairpersons. The chairperson will have the authority to direct government departments and other officials to provide necessary services, facilities, and vehicles for the Kumbh Mela.
