Masekesa's Dream Delivery Stuns South Africa

During the third day of the first Test match between Zimbabwe and South Africa at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, Vincent Masekesa delivered a remarkable ball that dismissed debutant Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who had previously scored an impressive 153 in the first innings.

In the 34th over of South Africa's second innings, Masekesa, a right-arm legbreak spinner, bowled a delivery that turned sharply after pitching. Pretorius, attempting to cut the ball, was caught off guard by the unexpected turn. The ball zipped through the gap between his bat and pad, crashing into the stumps. Pretorius, who managed only 4 runs off 6 balls in this innings, walked back in disbelief, leaving fans and commentators equally astonished.

This wicket marked a significant moment for Zimbabwe, as Pretorius had been in fine form during the first innings. His dismissal brought Zimbabwe their fourth wicket, igniting hopes for a comeback.

Masekesa deserves full recognition for this wicket, as the delivery showcased perfect flight, spin, and placement. It was the kind of ball that could stump even the most skilled batsman.

In the following overs, Masekesa struck again, taking the wicket of Dewald Brevis, marking his second wicket of the innings. By lunch, South Africa found themselves at 185/5, having lost four wickets in the first session of Day 3.

Zimbabwe maintained their momentum with the ball in the second session, claiming two additional wickets after lunch. Wellington Masakadza played a crucial role by dismissing centurion Wiaan Mulder (147) and wicket-keeper Kyle Verreynne, who scored 36.

As the match stands, South Africa is at 307-7, leading by 474 runs. With nearly seven sessions remaining, Zimbabwe has a significant opportunity to chase down this daunting target and make history in Bulawayo.
