Mumbai: In a shocking turn of events in the investigation into a 15-year-old student's suicide, the police inquiry has revealed that the girl, who was already stressed due to poor academic performance, was allegedly pushed off a building by her male friend.

This horrific incident reportedly occurred after she expressed her feelings to him and attempted an embrace him. The Bhandup police have confirmed that they are in the process of formally registering a case based on these startling findings.

The dramatic turn came after extensive interrogations conducted by the police. Officials questioned the accused boy, his parents, the building's security guard, residents, the children's friends, and the victim's mother.

Mobile phone data from both the victim and the boy were also scrutinized. Police sources indicated that it was during this comprehensive questioning that the boy eventually confessed to the sequence of events.

According to the police, the victim, who resided with her mother in Mulund, was a student at an international school. She had been struggling academically, consistently receiving low grades, which had significantly impacted her mental well-being and led to deep depression.

Compounding this, the day before her death, the school had sent an email to her mother stating that the girl would have to repeat the 9th grade as a repeater. This news, according to police, plunged the girl into an even deeper state of distress.

According to the police, the victim arrived at the Mahindra Splendor Society, LBS Road, Bhandup West building at 6 PM on the evening of June 24 to meet her 16-year-old male friend. She confided in him about the depression caused by her academic struggles. He then took her to the rooftop of the D-wing building.

Police investigations suggest that while on the rooftop, the boy attempted to console the distraught girl. It was during this emotionally charged interaction that the girl reportedly proposed to him.

The boy then started descending the stairs, with the girl following close behind. Between the 30th and 31st floors, the girl reportedly tried to embrace him. The police stated that the friend then pushed her away, causing her to tragically fall from a nearby window.

Following the incident, the deceased girl's body was sent for post-mortem examination as part of the initial investigation, which has now taken this grim turn.
