Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police have arrested Irfan alias Tota, a 20-year-old criminal who had been banished from Bhopal and its adjoining districts, for violating a court externment order, MP Nagar police said here on Monday.

Police said that acting on intelligence gathered through a newly developed informer system, police station in-charge Jaihind Sharma and his team apprehended externed criminal near Subhash Gate.

TI Sharma said that while conducting a routine surveillance operation in Rajiv Nagar, police received a tip-off that Irfan, who was expelled by order of the Police Commissioner dated May 5, 2025, was present in the area. The accused attempted to flee on spotting the police but was caught by the team with the help of local witnesses.

Irfan, a resident of Slum No. 2, Arjun Nagar, MP Nagar, had been externed from Bhopal, Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen, Rajgarh, and Narmadapuram districts for ten months under the State Security Act. His presence within the prohibited zone led to his arrest for violation of Section 14 of the Act.
