One of the stars of the Netflix series Ginny and Georgia has addressed whether their character could take a dark path in the upcoming fourth season.
In an exclusive interview with Reach Screen Time, actor Scott Porter, who plays Mayor Paul Randolph, the star addressed his hopes for season four and whether his character could end up trying to seek revenge against his ex-wife Georgia (played by Brianne Howey) after her lies came spilling out.
Porter said: "At the end of season three, Paul's relationship with Georgia is one of surprise because of the flipping of the roles, one of very high distrust."
The star went on to describe Paul as a "hurting person" going on to add how "people who are hurting very often want to hurt others".
Could this mean season four will see a revenge plot for Paul? Porter teased: "Everyone has been waiting for Paul's 'darkness' to come out for a very long time."
Adding: "Because I don't think that Paul is an inherently dark person. I think all human beings are capable of doing things that hurt other people."
However, the star didn't think his character would take a revenge trajectory despite Georgia's betrayal.
"Going into season four, I have never seen Paul as the type of person to go out of his way to take vengeance on someone," he said.
Porter cited their first date, where they discussed their hopes and aspirations for the future.
Paul shared how he wanted to make real and lasting positive change for people with his mayorship in Wellsbury serving as a launchpad for his political career, meanwhile Georgia said she simply wanted to be "free".
"I think a lot of Paul's hurt right now is because that dream is starting to fall apart, whether that could drive him to do something vicious to another person, I highly doubt it. But I do think that Paul has some serious soul-searching to do heading into season four," The Hart of Dixie star explained.
He also addressed the troubling scene, where Paul punched a wall near Georgia's head in one of their final moments in season three, calling it out as "wrong".
Porter hoped season four would see Paul "rebound" and "pick up the pieces of his life" in the aftermath of the third outing.
The actor also admitted he was excited to see how the role reversal between Paul and Georgia would play out, with the Mayoress Murderess now the town hero and the former Mayor an outcast.
As to his alter-ego's future in the series, Porter said: "The town of Wellsbury in the show is just as much of a character and Paul is still very important within the fabric of that community. So, I don't see Paul disappearing any time soon."
