The singer was scheduled to headline the event on June 28, alongside Vietnamese artists Chi Pu, Tang Duy Tan, and Mono. However, just hours before the event, organizers confirmed that Derulo would not be attending.

Thi Vo, a spokesperson for the event, explained that the organizers were taken by surprise by Derulo’s last-minute decision. She issued an apology to the audience and reassured them that the show would proceed with the local talent still performing.

“The event has been months in the making, so we must go ahead as planned,” Thi said. “While Jason Derulo’s absence is unfortunate, the show will still feature local stars.”

According to the organizers, Derulo had been scheduled to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City on June 26, but only his 30-person crew, mostly dancers, arrived that day. The singer postponed his flight to June 27, then delayed it again to the morning of June 28. By noon, with fans and organizers waiting at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport, only two members of his management team showed up.

“It was then that his team informed us that he had canceled the show due to health issues,” Thi explained.

The organizers confirmed they had already paid the full performance fee as per the contract and ensured all necessary arrangements for stage, sound, and lighting were in place.

“After the concert, we will work with our legal team to discuss the next steps regarding the contract,” Thi added.

At 36, Derulo began his solo recording career in 2009 and has since sold over 250 million singles worldwide, achieving 14 platinum singles in the U.S.
