King Charles may be the most well-known Charles within the Royal Family, however, there is another, lesser-known Charles who is celebrating his special day today. Charles, Viscount Linley is the King's first cousin once removed and is one of the late Princess Margaret's grandchildren and turns 26 years old today.
He is the eldest child of Princess Margaret's only son, David Armstrong-Jones, 2nd Earl of Snowdon and Serena Stanhope. Charles Patrick Inigo Armstrong-Jones was born on July 1, 1999, and three years later, the family grew again when his sister, Lady Margarita Elizabeth Rose Alleyne Armstrong-Jones, arrived.
He will undoubtedly be marking his special day privately today with his nearest and dearest.
At just 26 years old, the young royal is the only one of Princess Margaret's grandchildren to have a title and sparks a royal fan frenzy every time he makes a rare public appearance.
His father became the Earl of Snowdon after his own father, Antony Armstrong-Jones, died in 2017. Charles then became Viscount Linley. He is currently 27th in line to the throne. When his father passes away, Charles is also set to inherit the Earldom of Snowdon.
Like many other young royals before him, the 25-year-old attended Eton College before studying product design engineering at Loughborough University. Since his graduation in 2021, he has been working as a musician.
Viscount Linley also has another two cousins who are also gathering interest among royal fans.
Brothers Arthur and Samuel Chatto, Charles's cousins and the King's first cousins once removed, are also two of Princess Margaret's grandchildren and have been largely kept away from the spotlight.
Arthur, born in the same year as Charles, is a former personal trainer and, as of 2022, he was serving in the Royal Marines. He was also the late Queen Elizabeth's pageboy from 2009 to 2015.
Arthur's older brother, Samuel, was born in 1996. He is 30th in line to the throne, while Arthur is 31st. Samuel studied at Eton before enrolling at the University of Edinburgh to study History of Art in 2018. He is now working as a sculptor with a pottery studio in West Sussex.
The siblings are the children of Lady Sarah Chatto, Princess Margaret's only daughter, and her husband, Daniel Chatto.
The Chatto family do not undertake royal duties but have frequently attended several high-profile events alongside the rest of the royals, including the King's Coronation, the Princess of Wales's Christmas Carol concerts and Royal Ascot.
