Hero MotoCorp ’s EV arm, Vida, has launched its most affordable electric scooter yet: the Vida VX2 . The model will be available in two variants namely, VX2 Go and VX2 Plus. Notably, this is the first time that the company is offering a model with the option of Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription. Prices start from Rs 59,490, ex-showroom, with the BaaS model and go up to Rs 1.10 lakh for the fully-owned VX2 Plus variant.
For the unversed, the BaaS subscription model allows customers to pay separately for battery usage, thus bringing down the scooter’s upfront cost. Hero claims that the running cost of the VX2 is as low as Rs 0.96/km. Without the BaaS option, the Go variant costs Rs 99,490 while the Plus is priced at Rs 1.10 lakh, ex-showroom.
Both scooters come with removable batteries. The VX2 Go gets a 2.2kWh battery that delivers a claimed IDC range of 92 km and a top speed of 70 kmph. The VX2 Plus is equipped with dual battery packs offering a total of 3.4kWh, a longer 142 km range, and a slightly higher top speed of 80 kmph.
Speaking of practicality, the VX2 Go offers a 33.2-litre boot, while the Plus variant provides 27.2 litres of underseat storage. The scooter rides on 12-inch wheels and features a drum brake at the front for the Go variant, while the Plus gets a disc. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers.
In terms of tech, both scooters come with smartphone connectivity, remote immobilisation, and over-the-air software updates. The VX2 Plus gets a full-colour 4.3-inch TFT display with turn-by-turn navigation, while the Go variant gets a 4.3-inch LCD screen. The Go offers two riding modes: Eco and Ride, while the Plus adds a Sport mode.
The VX2 also comes with a five-year/50,000 km warranty and access to Hero's growing EV infrastructure, including over 3,600 public charging points and 500+ service centres across India. Those opting for the BaaS model get additional perks, such as free battery replacement if performance dips below 70 percent.
The models will be available in seven colour options - including orange and grey exclusive to the Plus. The Vida VX2 is now open for bookings online and at dealerships across India.
