Wimbledon 2025 has officially kicked off, with the first week of the championships already bringing together a host of famous faces. Entrance into the Royal Box is by invitation only, with the likes of Princess Beatrice and David Beckham just two of the well-known figures in attendance on day one, on June 30.
Princess Beatrice was joined by her mum, Sarah Ferguson - who is known among family members and friends as Fergie - yesterday. The royals, who were spotted in the Centre Court, attended the Gentlemen's Singles first round match between Italy's Fabio Fognini and Spain's Carlos Alcaraz. The mother-daughter duo were also snapped having a chat with actor Eddie Redmayne and his wife, Hannah Bagshawe.
Beatrice looked stunning in a Sandro striped shirt with floral detailing (£259) and what appeared to be a matching skirt, whilst Fergie looked stylish in a green floral maxi dress by ME + EM (£350).
Sir David Beckham was also among the first famous faces spotted at Wimbledon on Monday. The former England football captain, who was recently knighted, arrived with his mum Sandra. Joining David and Sandra, former England boss Sir Gareth Southgate was also spotted in the Royal Box.
Cricket star Stuart Broad - who retired from professional play in 2023 - also made an appearance in the Royal Box with his fiancée, singer Mollie King.
In true style, any event attended by such high-profile individuals requires attendees in the Royal Box to followa major fashion rule.
Expected to follow the dress code, male attendees must wear a suit or jacket with a tie. In contrast to other formal occasions, women are asked not to wear hats in order not to block anyone's view.
Until the year 2003, it was also tradition for players to bow or curtsy to members of the Royal Family sitting in the Royal Box whenever entering or leaving centre court.
This rule was later scrapped to adhere to the wishes of the All England Club's President The Duke of Kent, however there was an exception in place if the late Queen, Elizabeth II, was present.
If guests arrive late, they are normally not allowed into the Royal Box.
