His highest Test score of 142* at this venue came against India in 2022. It is not surprising at all that the Indian team would be extremely worried heading into the next Test.

With England now playing on more batting-friendly surfaces under their "Bazball" strategy, and India going into this game with a lackluster and inexperienced bowling unit, it wouldn't be shocking if Root's Edgbaston average increases even further.
