Seniors can already collect their vouchers through the scheme’s official website while younger Singaporeans can claim theirs from July 22.

The staggered rollout was designed to honor the contributions of older citizens and reserve more resources to assist those who may need help accessing or printing their vouchers in the first three weeks of this month, said Low Yen Ling, mayor of the South West District, as quoted by Channel News Asia.

Similar to the Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers, half of the SG60 vouchers can be spent at participating supermarkets, with the rest usable at participating heartland merchants and hawker stalls. They are valid until Dec. 31, 2026, according to The Straits Times.

However, unlike CDC vouchers, which are issued to households to offset daily expenses, SG60 vouchers are a one-time gift issued to individual citizens as part of the SG60 package to celebrate the city-state’s 60th anniversary. They are estimated to cost the government S$2.02 billion.

“The SG60 vouchers are our way of recognizing the contributions of all Singaporeans in our nation-building journey,” Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said in a social media post announcing the scheme on Monday.

In addition to the vouchers, Singaporeans can expect a commemorative SG60 postcard showcasing landmarks like the Singapore River and Jewel Changi Airport’s rain vortex, designed by artists of varying abilities. It will also include a message from Wong, according to Asiaone.

The broader SG60 package also features a range of celebratory benefits, including a 60% rebate on personal income tax for earnings in 2024, special gifts for babies born this year, and S$100 in credits that can be used for eligible sports, arts and heritage activities.
