A tense scene unfolded on Court 15 at Wimbledon 2025 as Yulia Putintseva raised serious safety concerns about a spectator during her first-round match. The World No. 33 demanded that a fan be removed, calling him “dangerous” and “crazy,” and refused to continue playing until he was ejected.

According to multiple media reports, the scary incident occurred with Putintseva trailing 0-3 in the opening set against American Amanda Anisimova. During the changeover, Putintseva approached the umpire with a pointed request.

“Can you take him out? I’m not going to continue playing until he leaves,” she was heard saying on the BBC broadcast. “These people are dangerous, they’re crazy.”

Putintseva added, with visible concern“Maybe he has a knife and he will attack after, I don’t know.”

The chair umpire asked which spectator she was referring to, prompting Putintseva to gesture toward a man in green seated behind her service end. The official then contacted security and stepped down from the chair to speak with two on-site staff members.

Tournament organisers confirmed the incident to TNT Sports in a brief statement: “Following a complaint about the behaviour of a spectator at the match on Court 15, the chair umpire informed security and the matter was dealt with.”

The latest episode comes amid heightened concerns about player safety in tennis.
