Travel between Jaipur and Delhi is all set to get significantly quicker, thanks to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opening a new 65-km stretch between Bagrana and Bandikui on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Starting soon, this section will be operational on a trial basis, with a formal inauguration by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) expected soon, as per a TOI report.
The newly opened stretch connects Bagrana, on the outskirts of Jaipur, to Bandikui, offering a faster, more direct route to the expressway. Previously, commuters from Jaipur had to detour via Dausa on the Jaipur-Agra Road to access the expressway. With this development, motorists, especially those coming from Rotary Circle or Ring Road, can now use a cloverleaf ramp and slip lane at Bagrana to reach the expressway directly, reducing traffic congestion and saving valuable travel time.

This upgraded access means that drivers can now reach the entry points of the DND (Delhi-Noida Direct) Flyway in about 2.5 hours. Factoring in the remaining stretch to New Delhi Railway Station or IGI Airport, the full journey from Jaipur to Delhi could take around 3 to 3.5 hours, down from the usual 4.5 hours.

The route features four additional interchanges for smoother connectivity at Bhedoli, Khurikurd, Sundarpura, and Geela ki Nangal, making it more accessible for surrounding villages as well.
Currently, travelers exit the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway at Bandhrej in Dausa and take the Jaipur-Agra highway, which is often crowded and time-consuming. The new spur allows drivers to avoid this bottleneck entirely, potentially shaving off an hour from the total journey.
According to NHAI regional officer Pradeep Atri, the Bandikui-Jaipur section is undergoing a final safety audit, after which remedial measures, if required, will be taken. Once approved, the road will open for trial traffic in July.

NHAI project manager Pushpendra Singh said the expressway spur was completed in 2.5 years and is expected to shift a substantial portion of traffic away from the old highway. Its design includes paved shoulders, full access control, and an efficient interchange system that links seamlessly to the main Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
Looking ahead, NHAI is also planning a greenfield expressway to link Jaipur with the Delhi-Agra highway, further enhancing the region’s road infrastructure and connectivity.
For now, travellers can look forward to faster, smoother travel to Delhi, monsoon or not.
