Pro Saudi League (RSL) side Al-Hilal have finally convinced French full-back Theo Hernandez to join them this summer, a report said on Thursday. Theo will be earning an astonishing €20 million salary in the Arab nation, while AC Milan, his current employer, will receive €30 million as part of the transfer deal, the report added.

Al-Hilal had been pursuing the fast-paced Frenchman for some time, but their earlier offers were turned down. Theo, the brother of PSG’s Lucas Hernandez, almost joined Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid, but the deal fell apart as the two European clubs failed to agree on a transfer fee. Theo’s current AC Milan contract is set to expire next year, and the Serie A side were hell-bent on not allowing him to leave as a free agent.

Theo Hernandez initially wanted to continue playing in Europe but ultimately decided to say yes to Al-Hilal due to the lack of serious suitors on the continent. The 27-year-old is currently undergoing his medical with the club in his homeland, Goal.com reported, quoting French media sources.

Al-Hilal, the only Saudi representation in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in the United States, boast a star-studded line-up comprising Sergej Milinković‑Savić, Rúben Neves, Aleksandar Mitrović, and João Cancelo, among others.

Apart from Theo, the Riyadh-based team are also in talks with striker Victor Osimhen and Spanish left-back Angeliño, following Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes’ decision to turn them down last month. They had reportedly set aside a fortune to lure the Portuguese midfielder to Saudi Arabia, but his choice to remain in England now gives Al-Hilal the freedom to redirect those funds in pursuit of other stars to further bolster their squad depth.
