Test cricket is widely regarded as the ultimate test of a cricketer’s skill, temperament, and endurance. Spread across five grueling days, the format challenges bowlers to take wickets and batters to survive and build innings under intense pressure.

Among thousands who’ve played the game, only a handful have stood out for their ability to face the most balls, grinding it out session after session.

Nicknamed “The Wall” for good reason, Rahul Dravid holds the record for the most balls faced in Test history.

Across 164 matches, he weathered 31,258 deliveries, scoring 13,288 runs at an impressive average of 52.31. His illustrious career includes 36 centuries and 63 half-centuries — a true symbol of resilience and patience.

Right behind Dravid is the Little Master, Sachin Tendulkar, who played a record 200 Test matches for India.

Tendulkar faced 29,437 balls, accumulating a record 15,921 runs at an average of 53.78. He notched up 51 centuries and 68 fifties, making him the highest run-scorer in the format.

South Africa’s legendary all-rounder Jacques Kallis is third on the list, having faced 28,903 deliveries in 166 Tests. Kallis scored 13,289 runs, including 45 centuries and 58 fifties, combining batting elegance with remarkable consistency over two decades.

Known for his unique stance and unmatched grit, Shivnarine Chanderpaul faced 27,395 balls in his 164-Test career. The West Indies stalwart scored 11,867 runs, with 30 hundreds and 66 half-centuries, often serving as the backbone of the Caribbean batting order.

Rounding off the list is Australia’s legendary captain Allan Border, who stood tall against the best bowling attacks of his era.

In 156 Test matches, he negotiated 27,002 balls, scoring 10,927 runs. His tally includes 27 centuries and 63 fifties, making him one of Australia’s most dependable batters.
