If you’re planning a trip to Central Africa this year, now’s the time to consider Gabon. As part of its efforts to boost tourism, the Gabonese government has launched a free electronic tourist visa (e-Visa), available through a new online portal.
Gabon’s free Visa is valid exclusively for travel between July 1 and September 30, 2025—is processed entirely online and issued in less than 48 hours.
This initiative coincides with the second edition of Gabon’s “Caravane Touristique” (Tourist Caravan), running from July 15 to September 15, a campaign designed to showcase the country’s natural and cultural attractions.
At a press conference in Libreville on June 30, 2025, Tourism Minister Pascal Ogowe Siffon and Interior Minister Hermann Immongault announced the e-Visa as part of Gabon’s broader push to modernize border entry and attract global travellers.
“This digital system is simple, fast, and 100% online,” said officials, emphasizing Gabon’s commitment to simplifying travel procedures and enhancing its global tourism profile.
The initiative is driven by three key goals:
Applying for Gabon’s new tourist e-Visa is straightforward and entirely digital. Here’s what you need to know:
Applicants can submit e-visa applications for free only between July 1 and September 30, 2025.
The process is fast, secure, and fully online, no embassy visits or fees required.
The Gabonese Ministry of the Interior has urged tourist visa applicants, hotels, tour agencies, and private hosts to register on the platform in advance to avoid delays in visa approvals.
This collaboration ensures efficient processing and better coordination during the high season linked to the Tourist Caravan events.
While the free tourist e-Visa is a limited-time offer, Gabon continues to operate a permanent e-Visa portal for other travel needs.

This portal is exclusively for air arrivals via Léon Mba International Airport in Libreville.
With lush rainforests, diverse wildlife, and pristine coastline, Gabon is one of Africa’s most underrated travel gems. The Caravane Touristique aims to change that by spotlighting national parks, cultural heritage, and eco-tourism destinations.
Travellers who take advantage of the free e-Visa during this window will enjoy a seamless travel experience, reduced paperwork, and zero visa fees, making Gabon a more accessible destination than ever.
