Palghar, Maharashtra: Following relentless heavy rains that have submerged numerous roads and bridges across Palghar district, Guardian Minister and Forest Minister Ganesh Naik has directed the district administration to undertake immediate repair work. This swift action aims to restore connectivity and ensure public safety in the affected areas.

Minister Naik stressed the critical need for rapid repairs, particularly in rural and tribal regions where infrastructure is already limited. In response, tehsildars across the district have submitted detailed reports identifying bridges and roads that are routinely submerged during monsoon seasons. The administration also highlighted the importance of bridging the rural infrastructure gap through the ongoing Dharti Aaba campaign, for which the Zilla Parishad has been asked to submit a comprehensive development proposal.

According to collected data, 85 roads and bridges across all eight talukas in the district are impacted by monsoon flooding. Officials have been instructed to prepare detailed repair estimates, including the possibility of elevating structures where necessary. These proposals are due within 15 days from the executive engineers of the Public Works Department (PWD) in Palghar and Jawhar, as well as the Zilla Parishad's construction division.

Subhash Bhagde, Resident Deputy Collector and CEO of the District Disaster Management Authority, confirmed that projects in tribal-dominated areas will be financed through tribal welfare schemes. Work in non-tribal regions will be covered by the District Planning Committee and other departmental schemes. The goal is to complete all repairs and upgrades over the next two years, ensuring more resilient infrastructure capable of withstanding future monsoon seasons.
