ITV viewers were left reeling after the broadcaster yanked The Chase from its usual slot to make way for football - sparking fury across social media. The popular show's Wednesday's instalment of the hit quiz show was scrapped (July 2) as the UEFA Women's Euros 2025 kicked off with Iceland vs Finland. The game aired from 4pm on ITV1, clashing with the quiz show's usual 5pm slot - and fans weren't happy about it.

Instead of settling in for their daily dose of Bradley Walsh and the Chasers, viewers were forced to endure the football match, prompting one angry fan to post: "No The Chase today guys, ITV think we want to see Iceland Women v Finland Women instead? FFS!" Another raged: "Have ITV got a death wish? Finland Women v Iceland Women." A third viewer fumed: "Wtf is this rubbish?" as another added simply: "The football. Nightmare. And the tennis. Ffs."

The fury didn't stop there - fans also took aim at the BBC for disrupting their TV schedules. Bargain Hunt was scrapped in favour of Wimbledon coverage, with one user posting: "#BargainHunt and #TheChase both binned off today - my WFH schedule is in tatters."

Fans hoping for a return to normality may be disappointed. While the show will return to screens on Thursday, July 3, more cancellations are on the horizon.

There will be no episode on Friday, July 4, as Denmark takes on Sweden, followed by Germany vs Poland in the evening - both airing on ITV1. Looking ahead to next week, the Monday July 7 edition has also been axed for Spain vs Belgium, which kicks off at 5pm.

ITV bosses have attempted to soften the blow with a Sunday night celebrity special airing July 6 at 5:30pm.

The star-studded episode will see Melvin Odoom, Carl Fogarty, Louis Smith, and Bonnie Langford go head-to-head with one of the Chasers in a battle of brains.

But fans have long grown frustrated with The Chase being bumped for sport. Just last month, the show was pulled from ITV1 for an entire week during Royal Ascot, and Coronation Street and Emmerdale have also been impacted by the Women's Euros.

Coronation Street usually airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for an hour-long broadcast from 8pm until 9pm.

However, fans will have to wait until Thursday evening, at a later time of 9pm, for the first episode of the week next week. Monday and Wednesday's broadcast have been scrapped from the schedule.

Over in Yorkshire, Emmerdale fans can normally tune in to the drama in the Dales every weeknight from 7:30pm. Like its rival soap Coronation Street, no episode will air on Monday, July 7 or Wednesday July, 9.

Hosted by Bradley Walsh, The Chase features contestants battling it out against top-tier quiz experts like Shaun Wallace (The Dark Destroyer),Anne Hegerty (The Governess), Mark Labbett (The Beast), Jenny Ryan (The Vixen), Paul Sinha (The Sinnerman), and Darragh Ennis (The Menace).
