Indian Railways has implemented a new rule for booking Tatkal tickets from 1 July 2025, which will stop the fraud in the Tatkal ticket. From now on, it has become mandatory to link the IRCTC account to Aadhaar for online Tatkal ticket booking.

If you have not been able to link your IRCTC account to Aadhaar till now, then do it quickly. Otherwise, there may be a problem in ticket booking.

How to verify IRCTC account from Aadhaar?

  • The first task is to go to the IRCTC website or app and login.
  • After that, go to the 'My Account' section and choose the 'Authenticate User' option.
  • Now enter your Aadhaar number or virtual ID and click on 'Verify Details'.
  • OTP will come on the link mobile number from your Aadhaar. Enter it.
  • The account will be verified as soon as you enter OTP.

How to link Aadhaar?

  • Log in by visiting the IRCTC app or website.
  • Go to the profile tab and choose on the Link Aadhaar option.
  • Click on Send OTP by entering your name and Aadhaar number. Enter OTP.
  • Click on the update tab, after which the pop-up of "Aadhaar Verification Successful" will be seen.

Noted things

  • From July 1, Tatkal tickets will not be booked without linking Aadhaar.
  • OTP will only come on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar, so keep the number update.
  • Verification should be done only through the official website or app of IRCTC.
  • If not linking on time, ticket booking may be delayed.
