As the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is expected to be released in July 2025, the central government has once again reminded ineligible beneficiaries to voluntarily surrender their claims. Failing to do so may lead to recovery and legal action.

If you or someone in your family is receiving government pension, working in the public sector, or has filed income tax, and still receiving PM-Kisan benefits — this is the time to opt-out voluntarily.

Who Is Not Eligible for PM-Kisan Scheme?

If you fall under any of the following 8 categories, you are ineligible for PM-Kisan and must surrender the scheme immediately:

# Disqualification Criteria
1 Institutional landholders (not individuals)
2 Persons holding constitutional posts currently or in the past
3 Current or former Ministers, Members of Parliament, State Assemblies, or Legislative Councils
4 Present or past Mayors of Municipal Corporations or District Panchayat Chairpersons
5 Serving or retired government employees (Central, State, PSU, Autonomous Bodies) — except Group D/MTS staff of local bodies
6 Individuals drawing pensions exceeding ₹10,000/month from any government department (excluding Group D/MTS retirees)
7 Income Tax payers (filed return in the last financial year)
8 Professionals such as Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, CAs, and Architects engaged in professional practice

What Happens If You’re Found Ineligible?

If you are found receiving benefits without fulfilling the eligibility criteria:

  • You may be required to return all the money received under the scheme.

  • Legal action may also be initiated for fraudulent claims.

How to Voluntarily Surrender PM-Kisan Benefits Online

To avoid complications, here’s how to surrender your PM-Kisan benefits if you're ineligible:

  1. Go to the official PM-Kisan website: https://pmkisan.gov.in

  2. Click on "Voluntary Surrender of PM-Kisan Benefits"

  3. Enter your Registration Number

    • If you don’t know it, click on “Know Your Registration Number”

  4. Enter your Mobile Number or Aadhaar Number, then the Captcha Code

  5. Click on Get Mobile OTP

  6. Once you receive the OTP, verify it to fetch your registration number

  7. Carefully read the Consent Terms, tick the checkbox

  8. Enter the Captcha Code again and click Get OTP

  9. Submit the final OTP sent to your registered mobile number

Once submitted, your account will be removed from the beneficiary list.

Why Is This Important?

The government is increasing scrutiny to ensure only eligible farmers benefit from the PM-Kisan scheme. With over ₹2,000 being credited every four months, misusing the scheme can lead to hefty repayments and legal complications.

The 20th installment is expected to be released in early July 2025, so it's advised to check your eligibility now and act accordingly.

In Summary

  • Check your eligibility: Falling under any of the 8 conditions means you're not entitled.

  • Surrender benefits: Do it online via pmkisan.gov.in.

  • Act before the next installment: Avoid facing recovery actions from the government.

  • Be honest: The scheme is meant to support genuine small and marginal farmers.
